~Tiny Turns One! : Baby Photography~

August 15, 2010 at 12:11am. One year ago...that is when my little Violet entered this world and changed my life forever. Giving birth and becoming a first-time-mom is such a whirlwind! The sequence of events can really be quite a blur! But I remember that moment…8/15/10 at 12:11am…I remember it as clear as day. The moment they set her on my stomach and when I heard her cry for the first time. The moment they put her in my arms, we looked at each other, and I said “hi.” There are no words to describe that feeling.

I never knew it was possible to love someone SO MUCH. I was also totally unprepared for how this little person changes your entire outlook on life. She makes me want to be a better person every day. I want to solve all the world’s problems so she can grow up in a better place. One thing is for sure…no matter what life throws at me, all I have to do is look at her, and I am reminded of how blessed I am.

I have to say, this past year has flown by. I hate that motherhood seems to press the fast forward button on life. It seems like, one minute, she was a 7 pound newborn, and the next minute she’s rolling, crawling, standing and now walking! While each stage passes way too quickly, every new chapter in her life is SO incredibly exciting and fun.

Today, my Little Tiny turns ONE YEAR OLD. It’s been the fastest and most amazing 12 months of my life. Of course, I would like to take this opportunity to share some Tiny photos, old and new!! I had a REALLY difficult time narrowing these down, so get comfy...there are quite a few. :)

Happy first birthday to my Little Tiny Violet Eve!!

~Chasing Violets~

I recently discovered a line of custom clothing for babies and kids called Chasing Violets.  As most of you know, I have a daughter named Violet, so the name alone was enough to peak my interest!

Not only are the onesies, tees and dresses super adorable, they are designed and handmade by a local mom right here in Rochester, MI.  Amy (the creator of Chasing Violets) happens to have a 14 month old daughter named…you guessed it…Violet!

As I was looking through the Chasing Violets collection online, I was blown away at how unique and creative all the designs were. I loved the color combinations, the patterns and the textures.  Upon seeing the clothes in person, I found that the attention to detail and craftsmanship is wonderful as well!  As an added bonus, the clothes photograph amazingly!  The colors and patterns really pop.

Amy & I thought it would be fun to have our own Violets model a few of the gorgeous dresses….and they both rocked the camera! It almost seemed as if they were VERY familiar with having their picture taken. :)

I cannot speak highly enough about Chasing Violets. Often times, clients ask me for suggestions on how to dress their baby/child for a photo session. If you want something truly unique, look no further than Chasing Violets!

Below are a few of the images that came out of our session.  Be sure to scroll all the way through to read how you can get a discount on a Chasing Violets outfit of your own!

First up, Amy's Violet!  Wearing the "Phoebe" apron dress.

Wearing the reversible "Kate" dress.

Here's the "Kate" dress again, showing the reverse pattern on the left.

And here is my Violet!  Wearing the "Scarlett" on the left and the "Samara" on the right.

The "Brielle" twirl dress.  I love the full skirt on this one!

Boys need options too!  Amy creates some unique and adorable onesies and tees.

Personalized initial onesie.

The construction and attention to detail is really amazing on all of Amy's pieces.

The fabric, color and texture is amazing as well!

I even love the labels!

Here is Violet wearing the "Scarlett"(left) and the "Bella"(right).

Side 2 of the "Scarlett" reversible dress.  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE her fabric choices?

The "Phoebe" reversible dress.  One side has an adorable apron, and the other side has gorgeous frilly trim.

I have to mention that the above/right photo captured a proud mama moment.  Violet was standing all by herself!!  She's done this before very briefly, but never long enough for me to take a picture.   I think we were both a little surprised!  I was so glad I had my camera handy.

The "Arianna."

~Little Tiny Studio~

As a natural light photographer, I usually dread the winter.  Obviously, natural light is most abundant outside, so my preference is to shoot outdoors whenever I can.  This past winter, however, I really started to embrace indoor photography.  Perhaps this had something to do with how LONG and incredibly COLD the winter was!  It really forced me to work with the lighting conditions, no matter where I was shooting.

On another note, I've worked with clients recently who prefer more of a studio look for their photos (as opposed to the more candid type of work I usually do).  I really started getting into this as well.  Now that I have a little one of my own, I definitely enjoy capturing some more formal shots of her.

So, I decided to combine these two things:  indoor photography & studio photography.  I put some extra space in my house to good use, and set up a little in-home, natural light studio.  I wanted to keep it fairly simple...just some nice backdrops, great natural lighting, and an adorable subject to shoot.  :)   I think the end result is sophisticated and timeless.

With that, I would like to introduce... Little Tiny Studio!  Below are a few sample shots, courtesy of Tiny herself.  :)

have you heard about Little Tiny Studio??

little diva :)

it's spring, but i'm still wearing my winter hat!

I will most definitely continue to do on location shoots, but I'm excited to start offering studio sessions as another option.  Studio sessions will take place in 1 hour increments.  And please note, the studio is literally quite little/tiny...so it works best for little ones, individuals, or small families (not large groups).  :)

Contact me for more information, pricing and availability.  We would love to see you at Little Tiny Studio!
